Illustration

I use a wide variety of software to create illustrations for print. All of the following illustrations have been published in magazines. Of course I've done many more illustrations than these, including technical and patent illustrations for the oil industry. Unfortunately, these cannot be shown because they are under NDA.
This is an illustration for an article that uses the story of "The Little Engine that Could" as a teaching point. I enjoy doing illustrations for children because they have such a high fun factor.

This illustration was for a story about an airplane that had one of its engines fail while flying over a mountain range. The pilot was inspired to let the propeller turn freely to reduce the drag. The plane made it over the mountains safely. In the illustration you see the prop slightly blurred, to show that it is turning slightly.

The following three illustrations were done for an article about a widow who had become very depressed about Christmas. Her family gathered around her and rallied her spirits by bringing her a tree. The client especially liked the angel ornament in the tree.
The following are spot illustrations for various magazine articles. This rabbit was accomplished using a fur generation program for both the rabbit, and the grass.
This package is deceptively simple. Pay attention to the nice satin texture on the ribbon, and the crumpled texture on the wrapping paper.
I wasn't sure how good a CG cookie would look. It turned out looking pretty yummy.
This was fun to do. Making the shader map for the bee was really enjoyable.
